Jay-Z Marcy Me
Jay-Z‘s new album 4:44 has captured the attention of hip-hop heads the world over since its release last week. It boasts several solid tracks.
“Marcy Me” is the 9th song on Jay-Z‘s thirteenth studio album, “4:44” and also paying his homage to Marvin Gaye’s, “Mercy Me”. Jay seems to be reminiscent of the days he used to be in his neighborhood of origin, Bedford Stuyvesant in the Marcy Houses. Jays makes many references to how things were when he used to live in the Marcy Houses. Also, HOV is emphasizing how he never abandoned where he came from hence the name of the song, “Marcy Me”. Using maternal and contraceptive metaphors to explain his love for Marcy and how he doesn’t want the people there to forget him.
