Kelela drops a new song called “Frontline.” It’s been four years since Kelela dropped her first mixtape in 2013 and we’re about to receive her first studio album in the coming weeks. While her professional career as a singer goes back to 2012, she’s since found herself featured on some incredibly strong projects in the past year or two. Between Danny Brown, Gorillaz, Solange and Clams Casino, Kelela’s voice has proven to stand strong but now is the time that she establishes her own voice as a solo artist. With her debut album Take Me Apart due out in October, Kelela drops another single off the project, “Frontline.”
Kelela’s long-awaited debut album Take Me Apart is set for release next month, and it’s shaping up to be a good one. After sharing the first single “LMK” last month, the Washington, DC singer is back with a second release titled “Frontline,” which is about leaving someone behind. “Can’t take it back even though you wish I could,” she sings on the chorus. “If you think I’m going back, you misunderstood.” “Frontline” was premiered on last night’s episode of Insecure on HBO.
